My Story
Hi, I’m Nat! – thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
This September, I’m taking on a personal challenge that’s a little bit mad in my world being not much of a runner although getting better slowly!
I’ll be running two half marathons in just seven days. First up is the London Big Half on 7th September (this one) then the Cheshire Half on 14th September.
I’m doing this for a cause that really matters to me and my family: Carers Link Lancashire, where my wife has worked for several years. Through her, I know first hand just how important fundraising is to Carers Link and how far every donation truly goes in supporting unpaid carers.
Why am I running for them?
Because unpaid carers are the unsung heroes among us. They’re the people who quietly hold everything together for someone they love who couldn’t manage without them. It could be a child caring for a parent, an adult caring for a partner, or someone looking after a friend or relative with a disability, illness or similar.
They do this work out of love and often at great personal cost. Many carers feel isolated, alone, lose income or education opportunities, and put their own lives on hold.
Carers Link Lancashire is there for them. They provide practical help, advice, emotional support, and a friendly voice on the end of the phone when things get tough. They work with carers as young as six and as old as 101.
- There are an estimated 43,000 unpaid carers in East Lancashire alone.
- 1 in 8 people in the UK is a carer.
- Unpaid carers save the UK economy over £160 billion a year, yet many struggle to get by.
By running these two races back-to-back, I want to help raise awareness... (and funds) to support these amazing people. Every penny I raise will go directly to Carers Link Lancashire, helping them continue this vital work.
If you’re able to donate, however big or small, it would mean the world to me and to the carers your donations help!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my page and for any support you can give.
'just keep plodding'
Cheers, Nat x
