Liz and Michaela’s Big London Half Marathon for SCAD ❤️
My Story
Hi Everyone,
I am really happy to be raising funds for SCAD by running the London big half marathon with my daughter Michaela Mayor .We were both lucky to be given the 2 charity places and will be training and raising funds together.
As many of you are aware I nearly died on 10th March 2017 when I had a SCAD , Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection and heart attack.
Thankfully my guardian angels, my wonderful work colleagues saved my life that day .I am so very grateful to Dr Ahmed Elghamaz at Northwick Park Hospital and to all of the team for being there for me and my family . Also , for the love and support from the team at Northwick Park and Harefield Hospital at anytime I need them ❤️
Mine and my families lives were changed forever that day and it has made a very close family even closer .
It's really hard dealing with something that you have no control over .SCAD cannot be predicted or prevented.Mentally it was hard and I struggled with PTSD and lost my confidence at work and at home .
Over the last 7 years I have learnt to deal with my anxiety, fear and chest pains . In November 2023 I developed chest discomfort and eventually saw my GP in December.Fast forward and February 13th 🫣I needed another stent due to a mechanical issue .
Again , totally out of my control and my life was rocked again .
But I am a SCAD warrior supported by the SCAD team , SCAD survivors,my amazing family, colleagues and friends .
I have come back so much stronger and confident.
I like to run occasionally 🤣but have not run a half marathon since my SCAD and heart attack
Please help me raise much needed funds for SCAD . It is a very rare condition and research is so important to help save lives .
Please google SCAD
Thank you
